The largest tern in the World, Caspian tern favour hunting in estuaries, estuarine lakes and river mouths rather than out at sea like many other species.
Their loud raucous call, bright red Bill and large size render them unmistakable. They are resident throughout the year and breed on islands in Lake St Lucia.
