​This large cisticola is common in the coastal grasslands around St Lucia and in the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, especially areas with dense clumps of Wild date palm- which they enjoy perching in.


Their characteristic croaking (frog-like) call is a common sound in the grasslands, especially during the summer months.
