Eastern nicator are secretive residents of thick bush and forest in St Lucia.
During the breeding season males often have favourite trees which they call from on a regular basis, making them easier to find. Their call is a far-carrying liquid call usually given from high up and in the foliage of a tree. The tail wags as the bird calls so this movement should be searched for when trying to locate a calling bird.
They have the habit of following antelope or other larger creatures through the bush, capitalising on any insects flushed as they move.
Sometimes they even perch on antelope, Oxpecker-style.
