​The Eurasian oystercatcher is a rare vagrant to the Coastline of South Africa with only a few individuals seen each year. They are, however relatively consistent on St Lucia's beaches with sightings most years- even if only brief stays.


They are usually found feeding in the intertidal zone in the company of African oystercatcher or Eurasian whimbrel
