​A denizen of thick tangles and rank undergrowth, the Gorgeous bush-shrike is another tough bird to find.

They are a very vocal bird and their characteristic, far-carrying ‘kon-kooit’ call is a common sound in forest and forest edge. They call year-round, but are more vocal during breeding season (Spring & Summer).

The Gorgeous bush-shrikes preference for rank forest thickets, their skulking habits and nervous nature all contribute to their elusiveness.
