These massive powerful raptors are uncommon around St Lucia and are best looked for on the Eastern and Western shores of the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park.


They favour more open areas than the Crowned eagle and can usually be found perched atop a prominent perch on the edge of the grassland where they search for large prey such as Water monitors, Guineafowl and small antelope
