​These beautiful little seed-eaters are synonymous with Sandforest where they are often seen in pairs or small groups.


They are occasionally also found in the Dune forest around St Lucia and at Cape Vidal where they join mixed flocks of seed-eaters such as Green twinspot, Red-backed mannikin and Grey waxbill.


Typical seed-eaters, they drink often and have a preference for bathing in rain puddles on warm days
