These small ducks are regular around St Lucia during wet periods when there is an abundance of water lily-covered wetlands.
They usually occur in pairs but May be plentiful on wetlands with suitable habitat.
They like to sit low in the water amongst thick clusters water lily making them tricky to spot. Their white back is only visible in flight.
They often co-occur with African pygmy goose so if you see one or the other keep your eyes peeled!
